President
In addition to having a business management degree, Scott has extensive experience in personnel management and training, customer service development, expense and inventory control, budget development, bookkeeping, systems development and marketing. He entered the dental field in 1991 and relocated to Southern California in 1994 to establish his own company. He and his wife Valerie, and their three children - Devoreaux, Jordan, and Chandler, live in Thousand Oaks. They and are actively involved with their church, children's schools and in various community service organizations.
Scott has worked with hundreds of dental practices since 1991 developing business plans, coaching and training dental teams, developing leadership skills, enhancing communication skills, training teams on customer service techniques, and successfully helping practices grow to new levels of productivity and profitability. In addition to being the primary trainer of the in-office coaching programs, he speaks regularly at the Conejo Valley Dental Institute and a variety of dental society and study club meetings throughout Southern California. |

Director of Sales and Marketing
Andy has a degree in Marketing from California State University Northridge. From 1989 - 2000 Andy worked with two major dental product manufacturers and distributors providing product & sales training, marketing concepts, product development, and managed both a telemarketing and outside sales division. He joined Clifton & Associates, Inc. in September of 2000 and is in charge of marketing development and clinical courses held at The Conejo Valley Dental Institute. |

Clinical Director
After graduating from Northwestern University in 1983,
Dr. Burton began practicing dentistry in the United States Army Dental Corp from 1983 to 1986. He then practiced privately until 1999 in Thousand Oaks, CA. In 1999, he began focusing primarily on teaching. In addition to numerous hours of continuing education, he has also attended The Las Vegas Institute and The Seattle Institute, and has served on the faculty at the University of California, Los Angeles.
He currently continues to practice full-time restorative dentistry, serves as Clinical Director of Clifton & Associates, Inc., Training Director of Pacific Dental Lab, Director of Education for the Conejo Valley Dental Institute. His focus is on implementation of techniques in adhesive dentistry, photography, and case presentation skills. |

In March 2007 we were introduced to Clifton and Associates through a local study club. We were impressed with the presentation and volunteered for a complimentary evaluation of our practice. After reviewing our systems and the dynamics of our two doctor practice, we were given an overview of what we could expect in practice growth from the training program with Clifton and Associates. We had been in practice almost 18 years and had never worked with a dental consultant.
In May 2007 we started our training with Scott and Becky of Clifton and Associates. Scott owns the business and is very hands-on with the training of his clients. The training covers all areas of a successful dental practice. We were impressed with the approach to educating both the staff and the doctors. We also learned that we had limited our growth potential by how we were running our business. We followed almost every one of their recommendations, and in 2008 we saw our hygiene department grow by over 33% and our gross income increase by 40%.
Most importantly, their training prioritizes excellent patient care in a way that educates the patients via photography in an approach that is comfortable and not aggressive or pushy. That was critical for us, as we have been with most of our patients for years and they are like family to us. We would absolutely without a doubt do this training program again. |
